The 2011 national electrical code, NFPA 70-2011, as sponsored and published by the National Fire Protection Association, together with the following additions, insertions, deletions and amendments hereinafter set forth. One copy of this article shall be kept on file for public inspection in the office of the city clerk.


A. Amendments And Deletions To The 2011 National Electrical Code:

1. The following articles, sections or subsections of the national electrical code 2011, are hereby deleted:

Article 334 Nonmetallic-Sheathed Cable: Types NM, NMC & NMS

Article 338 Service-Entrance Cable: Types SE & USE

Article 354 Nonmetallic Underground Conduit With Conductors: Type NUCC

Article 362 Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing: Type ENT

Article 378 Nonmetallic Wire Ways

Article 382 Nonmetallic Extensions

Article 388 Surface Nonmetallic Raceways

Article 394 Concealed Knob-And-Tube Wiring

Article 396 Messenger Supported Wiring

Article 398 Open Wiring On Insulators

2. Any reference in said code to the "authority having jurisdiction" shall mean the building official of the city of Wood Dale, Illinois. (Ord. O-12-030, 9-6-2012, eff. 10-1-2012)

A. "Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets", amended as follows:

210.52(G)(3) A minimum of one ceiling receptacle outlet shall be installed at each overhead garage door in all attached garages and detached garages.

Subsection 210-70 (1), "Habitable Rooms," of section 210.70, "Lighting Outlets Required," is amended as follows: Exception No. 3: Switches in bathrooms subsection 210-70(1), Exception No. 3: Switches in bathrooms shall be at least five feet (5') from the inside edge of any bathtub or shower unless protected by ground-fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel. All light and/or exhaust fixtures located above bathtubs or showers shall be protected by ground-fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel and approved for this type of location.

Subsection 210.70(2), "Additional Locations," of section 210.70, "Lighting Outlets Required," is amended as follows: 210.70(2) (a) At least one wall switch-controlled lighting outlet shall be installed in hallways, stairways, attached garages and detached garages. Said wall switch shall not be located beyond five (5') feet from the point of entry to a room, including cellars or basements. (Exception - Bathrooms - see Exception #3 above)
